A quick update on the house situation first, I talked to someone from Quicken and they basically told me sorry, but too bad, so sad. She gave excuses for anything, but did admit that it sounds like there were things done that could be "coaching opportunities" for our loan specialists. *gag* I've always said that I didn't buy that customer service was going downhill, because I know so many great people in customer service, but I've come to determine that these big companies are so big they don't care one iota about customer service.
Another example just today was our health insurance. Jeremiah went out on short term disability for about 4 weeks in July. Never once has his paycheck altered until November. In November they just stopped taking out health insurance payments. As I've said before, he gets paid once a month, and November happened to be when he gets a bonus from work. We just chalked the increase in pay up to the bonus. When it happened again in December we tried to get it fixed. No one knows what is going on and they can't get it fixed. HR says he's in the system, but the benefits company says he's still out on disability and has been since July (yet he wasn't from August to November after he went back, figure that out). Also taxes were taken out of the paycheck that wouldn't have been had the benefits been there, but they expect us to pay the whole amount, so we now have to pay almost double what we normally pay for 2 months (because taxes taken out were more than what we would have had to pay to insurance, and normal that is amount is not taxed). Now he just got paid today and we checked his paystub and not only was the error not fixed, but they ADDED what we should have had taken out! So now we'll owe for FOUR payments, because of THEIR mistake! And they don't give a damn about our situation, just tell us tough, you have to pay. I REFUSE to pay an EXTRA $500+ due to their mistake! It's just one thing after another. *Deep breath. Try to be positive...*
Ok, onto happier things, Valentine's!
This was Riley's kindergarten Valentine! Beeee My Valentine! I love this!
1. First make a heart out of yellow paper and a heart out of black paper.

2. Next turn the heart over and draw black lines on it (make sure you use either thicker paper, or a marker that won't bleed through, unlike me), along with a "stinger" and a face. Cut the black heart in half and glue it on as wings.
3. Punch 2 holes in front of the wings for antennae. Fold the yellow heart in half from point to point. Use black pipe cleaners cut to size (just with scissors worked) and thread them through the holes to keep it together and form the antennae (twist the pipe cleaner together at the bottom leaving 2 antennae sticking up).

4. On the inside I would write "Bee My Valentine" and have the child sign their name. Riley also wanted Transformers Valentine's, so we attached them inside and he signed them (we tried to tie it together with Bumblebee the Transformer, but used other Transformers too). They were a hit with his class! I've also seen them done as mice, or carrots (use green pipe cleaners twisted into a spiral like a pig's tail sticking out the top).
Riley's First Grade Valentines! You make my heart GLOW! This was a great one too!
- Take your child's picture in front of a background of your choice (obviously red is the obvious choice, I just got a scrap of red fabric and hung it on the wall) with their hand sticking out like they are holding something.
- Use photo editing software to add any embellishments (like the black border around mine, and the wording), then print them out.
- Punch a hole above and below the hand and slide a glow stick bracelet, flower, lollipop, pencil, balloon, or whatever through the holes. I LOVE this snicker one I just found!
- I used a large white mailing label sticker on the back for Riley to sign.

I'm doing the photo ones for Lily's pre-k class this year, but I'm stuck on Riley's. I was thinking homemade heart crayons like this or this, but he says he doesn't want to. He, of course, wants lame store bought ones LOL! I'll convince him otherwise! ;-) Oh this one is crazy cute too, but I already have the crayons! Maybe next year!
As always, I want to end with our thankfuls!
