The Worst Day Ever

I was planning on starting this blog in a very different way, but something happened today that I NEED to blog about. I'll tell you more about me later.

About a month and a half ago my family found the perfect house for us. It was in the perfect neighborhood, 6 houses from my sister and had so many random little things that I've always wanted in a house. An inground pool, central vacuum, beautiful yard and so much more! We had had the pre-approval for 2 months, so we went for it! Brian Lindow at Quicken Loans pre-approved us for $325,000! CRAZY! Thankfully I knew there was no way on earth we could afford that, and the house was in our actual price range. So we began the process.

Brian assured us that there would be no problem at all. Anything they asked of us, we immediately did. The underwriters received all of our information and began working. Of course it was one problem after another. Things that shouldn't have been problems suddenly were. I know we haven't taken the best care of our credit, but we have been working very hard the last 2-3 years fixing it. Brian didn't bother to tell us about a few of our problems and I had to keep after him to find out any information about our status.

FOUR weeks after the underwriters got it, they DENIED us! Two weeks before we were supposed to close!  Over TWO late payments and too high credit card balances. Of course they knew all this, but decided to drag it out and probably keep us from buying our dream house. I am so angry I can't even put into words the things they did to screw us, but now it will probably be too late. Not to mention them hurting our credit score by pulling our reports FOUR times and failing to tell us about errors on it. I also found out it is VERY rare that a bank pre-approves someone and then the loan falls through, yet Quicken did the same thing to my sister. With her they didn't drag it out for weeks so I trusted that everything would be ok.

If we do not get this house I can't tell you how devastated I will be. Even my son was crying, because he has had his heart set on "our" house. We've told everyone, and had so many plans, and already started packing. We've spent $1,200 of NONrefundable money on the process so far. I cannot believe this is happening.  I need this house! It's Friday and Monday is a holiday, so we have to wait 4 more days to find out if anything can be done through another lender.

Please pass along good thoughts, or prayers or whatever you do, that something can be done to fix this! And do not use Quicken Loans!
